1. The secret of facial skincare using fresh turmeric

There’s a saying in Vietnam: “Shape is first, skin is second.” That’s enough to tell us that skin is considered an essential factor in showing and evaluating a woman’s beauty.

Turmeric is often applied to a wound to treat and prevent the skin from scarring. This highly effective scar-treating technique was used by our ancestors long ago and is still widely used and taught in the present day. Scientists have discovered that fresh turmeric contains Novasol Curcumin, Turmeric, Cyclocurcumin; all of which are good for our health, especially our skin.

Vietnamese women often use turmeric in combination with honey or rice water to apply on the skin once a week to nourish the skin and balance moisture.

2. Using bodhi to wash hair

A characteristic of Vietnamese women is having black hair; one of the highlights of their beauty.

There’s a Vietnamese proverb that says: “The teeth and the hair are the roots of the human person.” Since ancient times, the concept of long, shiny black and smooth hair has defined the beauty of a woman.

Previously, when there was no shampoo, in order to keep the hair soft and smooth Vietnamese women used Bodhi to wash their hair; a beauty secret that they still practise today. Bodhi is still a herb used to wash hair for everyone, from children to women, to men. It is also used in the manufacture of a wide variety of shampoos.

It contains ten saponins, which have anti-inflammatory and cleansing properties. Bodhi works to treat dandruff, hair fungus, reduce hair loss, darken hair, and create shine.

3. Skin whitening using rice water

According to folklore, the rice grain from ancient times was considered the pearl of heaven and earth. Additionally, Vietnamese women often used rice water to wash their faces or to use for body care.

First, you need to wash your face using warm water to loosen and open up your pores. Then, wash your face with the rice water through gentle facial massage and rinse with clean water. You can wash your face with rice water in the morning and evening. After a few weeks of application, you will have white, rosy, and vibrant skin.

Many studies show that rice water contains large amounts of vitamin C, vitamin B5, and some minerals such as iron, magnesium, and zinc. These are nutrients that have great effects on the skin.
